Umm Zakiyyah currently resides in Washington, D.C. USA. She is an internationally acclaimed author of the If I Should Speak trilogy and the novels Realities of Submission and Hearts We Lost. Her professional interests are writing and art. She grew up in a Muslim home in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. In 1997, she graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. She went on to make a name for herself as a writer, teacher, and inspirational speaker. She appeared on radio and TV in the United States and Canada, and was a guest lecturer at national conferences and youth events.
