Education: Bachelor of Education, MPhil, and studying for a PhD in Children’s Literature at the University of Worcester, UK. Fawzia is married to an American teacher and they have one daughter.
Fawzia writes, “Most of my writing is influenced by my personal experiences growing up as a Muslim in a non-Muslim society. The “otherization” and invisibility of Islam left an impact on me. I don’t ever recall reading a fictional tale where a character prayed or recited a verse from Qur’an. My stories cover a number of different themes, which try to promote positive attributes like sharing, caring, honesty, faith, friendship, love and kindness. My hope is that some tiny part of my stories might touch the heart of a young reader and reinforce a striving of goodness within that child.”
