Veiled Writer

Short Biography

Veiled Writer was born and raised Muslim on the east coast of the United States.

Like other second and third generation Muslims growing up in the US, finding her way between the looming iniquities beckoning and heeding to the path outlined in Islam has been a difficult but rewarding journey.

Writing started as a pass time that soon turned into a full fledge love affair. Veiled Writer started a newsletter for young Muslim girls in her community at the age 15 and created a support group for young Muslim women who wear the Islamic face veil at 18.

Now, married and a mother of one, Veiled Writer, is a student and is currently working on completing her first urban Islamic novel and Islamic poetry collection.

Veiled Writer is the former Assist. Director of IWA, and also served as website designer and webmistress for a period of time. Her short stories and poetry can be found on many Muslim E-zine sites and print magazines. She also performs her poetry readings live at Muslim women events. Currently, she is busy finishing up her first poetry chapbook and novel, Inshallah.
